Friends of KSM

Friends Events, Dates for your Diary for 2023 - 2024:

22nd March - Quiz Night

Our Friends of KSM School Committee is run by an enthusiastic group of parents and supported by teachers. The aim is to enhance our children’s education by providing activities and equipment to supplement those provided within normal resources. Without the help and dedication of our parent association, these extras would not be available to your child. We hope, therefore, that you will support their fundraising efforts throughout the school year.

Tanya, Laura, Lisa, Victoria, Matthew, Sue, Rhian and Marie-Clare are our current Friends Committee.

Wonderful resources such as our staging, playtrail, outside tables, outdoor classroom cover, gymnastics equipment, class Christmas presents and story sacks have all been purchased for the children from money raised by the Friends. They have supported major projects such as the development of our Music Room, Library, Nature Area, Amphitheatre and outdoor environment improvements.

Check out the Friends Facebook page for the latest news, events and initiatives.

What is the 50/50 Club?
The aim of the club is to raise funds to support our school, but also provide funding for a prize draw each month. One ticket can be purchased for £12 a year and you can probably tell from the name of the club that 50% of the funds raised are for the school and 50% are for a prize fund.

Draws take place each month and dependant upon how many members there are, can have 3 prizes each month from £25 to £15, with two months of the year [June and December] at a top prize of £50.

What is the money used for?
The money raised will go towards assisting the school to provide an all round education for the children, be it play equipment, library books, a sound system for the hall or visiting the theatre to experience a pantomime or performance.

How can I pay my subscribtion?
Direct debit is preferable and a form can be obtained from the School Office. Direct Debits can be made annually £12, quarterly £4 or monthly £1. Alternatively you can pay by cheque - made payable to Kington St Michael 50/50 Club for the whole year at £12.

What happens when I fill in my form?
You will be given a number and then keep your fingers crossed that your number is drawn.

Who can have a number?
Anyone – parents, friends, aunts, uncles, grandparents, neighbours. In fact, the more people who join, the more prizes we can award. "The more money we raise, the more we can spend on the children."

How many numbers can I have?
You have as many as you like.

When can I join?
You can join any time, but need to be a member for 6 months to be eligible for the £50 draws. The first draw for each year takes place in July.
