Music

Picture 1

Music is very important to us at our school. We have a dedicated Music Room, specialist music teachers in every day of the week and lessons offered in piano, keyboard, woodwind, guitar, ukulele, and voice. We even have 'rock band' lessons where the children can learn to play the electric guitar, electric drums and sing in to a microphone. We have a school choir and the whole school are regularly praised for their skills and enthusiasm when singing.

Children listen carefully and respond physically to a wide range of music. They play instruments and sing a variety of songs from memory, adding accompaniments and creating short compositions. They explore and enjoy how sounds and silence can create different moods and effects. They are encouraged to listen to, and appreciate, a range of music.  Children will perform, listen to, review and evaluate music across a range of historical periods, genres, styles and traditions, including the works of the great composers and musicians.
