At KSM the scheme ‘Understanding Christianity’ is used for our teaching about Christianity. Alongside this scheme we follow ‘Discovery RE’ for learning about other faiths. Both are enquiry- based approaches to teaching and learning and link with the Wiltshire Agreed syllabus for RE (Statutory document).

RE is not included in the National Curriculum (2014) however ‘The Statement of Entitlement for Church schools' (2019) lays out the details of RE coverage in church schools. Discovery RE and Understanding Christianity fulfil the requirements of both the approach and content set out in this document.

Christianity is the main focus religion and taught in every year group, with Christmas and Easter given new focus each year, developing the learning in a progressive way. Alongside Christianity, Judaism is explored in KS1.  Hinduism, Sikhism and Islam are then introduced in KS2.

Please refer to the overview below which shows more detailed coverage within each year group.
