Welcome

‘Learning together, aiming high’

The children, staff and governors welcome you to the Kington St Michael CE Primary School website. Kington St Michael School is a voluntary controlled Church of England primary school for children who are Foundation Stage 2 (Reception), Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 – ages 4 to 11.

Our school is located in the beautiful, rural village of Kington St Michael on the outskirts of the market town of Chippenham, Wiltshire. There are 133 children on roll, drawn from the parish of Kington St Michael, surrounding villages and the housing development of Cepen Park North in Chippenham. Children living in other parts of Chippenham and other villages in the surrounding areas also attend the school.

We aim to provide a stimulating environment, where your child can develop at his, or her, own pace and where each child is valued as an individual. Problems can be shared and successes and endeavours celebrated, enabling each child to reach their full potential. There is a caring, positive and nurturing atmosphere where children can develop self-discipline and co-operation. All of our staff members are well qualified, experienced, skilled and dedicated.

We appreciate that the best education for your child happens as a result of the partnership between parents, teachers and pupils. We see the process as a team effort and believe that the children need to be fully involved in, and responsible for, their own learning.

We pride ourselves in the broad, balanced and creative curriculum that we offer. Both teachers and pupils need to be fully engaged and interested in their learning in order to want to go further and challenge themselves. We use the local environment, trips, visitors and quality texts in order to inspire learning.

Everyone involved in the school enjoys being here – parents, pupils and staff:

“The school is a warm, welcoming, friendly learning environment for our children to be in. All staff support and encourage the children to develop their confidence, independence and much more” (parent feedback to Ofsted inspector).

“I am amazed at how skillfully staff have taught my children the building blocks of reading. It's fantastic to see such rapid progress in my children, thank you.” (parent questionnaire)

“The staff are fantastic, taking time getting to know all the children and look after them, our child's needs are well met.” (parent questionnaire)

“I like the fact that everyone knows each other and it is a happy place.” (pupil questionnaire)

“All of the teachers and TA's are so kind.” (pupil questionnaire)

“I am proud to be a part of our new team. We have a good spirit in school and feel well led and positive about the future.” (staff questionnaire)
