At KSM, we recognise and value the importance of positive behaviour, behaviour that enables all children to learn and teachers to teach in a safe and happy environment. We believe that achieving this requires everyone to work together through a consistent approach.

In developing our Behaviour Policy, we have drawn on strategies such as circle time, assertive discipline, emotional literacy, and equal opportunities. These ideas continue to inform and shape the ongoing development of our policy, which is monitored, reviewed, and updated as needed. We welcome feedback and open discussion to ensure it remains effective and relevant.

Bullying

Bullying is very rare at KSM and is not tolerated under any circumstances. We actively work with children to help them understand what bullying is, how to respond, and what steps to take if they encounter it. We regularly address these issues through circle times, assemblies, and debates, creating ongoing opportunities for discussion and awareness.

If a child is worried about bullying or anything else, we teach them the “tell, tell, tell” strategy and encourage them to speak out to a trusted adult so that the issue can be addressed promptly.

During our annual Anti-Bullying Week, we focus on a specific aspect of bullying, such as cyberbullying. Year 6 pupils take a leading role by presenting an assembly, supporting and guiding other students throughout the school.

Our older pupils are entrusted with many responsibilities, including our ‘buddy system’ and provide exceptional support to younger children, fostering a caring, safe, and inclusive school community.
