Key Information
Pupil Premium

Text

The Pupil Premium is additional funding to help schools close the attainment gap between children from low-income and other disadvantaged families and their peers. We use the small amount of funding that we receive as a school for additional TA support, group work, intervention, support for music lessons, trips or residentials, counselling or any additional resources required to support the learning of these pupils.

The Pupil Premium was introduced by the government as a way of allocating funds to support low-income families who are eligible for free school meals, looked after children and those from families with parents in the Armed Forces. At Kington St Michael Primary School we strive to ensure that this money is spent in the most effective way possible by using current educational research; our knowledge of the children and discussion with families to help inform the decisions we make.

In the 2025 to 2026 financial year, schools will receive the following funding for each child registered as eligible for Pupil Premium at any point in the last 6 years:

  • £1,480 for pupils in reception year to year 6
