Statement of Intent

The intent of our primary History curriculum is to inspire curiosity about the past and help children understand how history has shaped the world they live in today. We aim to develop pupils’ knowledge of key events, people and societies, both locally and globally.

Through engaging and chronological learning, students will gain a strong sense of time, cause and effect, and change over time. Our curriculum encourages critical thinking, questioning, and the use of historical evidence. We want children to appreciate diversity, understand different perspectives, and make connections across periods and cultures. Ultimately, we aim to equip pupils with the skills to become thoughtful, informed, and active citizens.
