The Governors at Kington St Michael CE Primary School are a voluntary team who guide and support the strategic direction of the school. They are an integral part of the school community, and their contribution to its running is highly valued.

    Sara Pierson is an experienced Human Resources leader with over 20 years in the travel and banking industries. Drawing on her deep understanding of large commercial organisations and hands-on operational experience, she is committed to helping teams thrive and perform at their best. Sara is passionate about supporting the school and contributing positively to the lives of pupils and the wider community.

    Sara loves reading a good book and chocolate, but doesn't like walking her dog in the rain.

    Andrea Bridle has been a governor at KSM for 4 years, a role she took on after retiring and moving to this area from Hampshire. During her career, she has worked with children and young people in both the social care and education sectors.

    Mrs Bridle loves her garden and travelling to new places. She doesn't like roller coasters!

    Rob Griffin is an experienced Project and Production Leader with over 20 years' expertise in location-based attractions worldwide. His career has given him unique opportunities to lead large creative teams, work across various countries to understand different cultures and values, and deliver strategy, guidance, and commercial success.

    Rob enjoys outdoor adventures, running and gardening, but he does not like being cold.

  • Catherine Harris

    Alongside being a parent governor, Catherine Harris is an experienced teacher and currently works as a deputy headteacher at a specialist SEN school. When not teaching, she is passionate about all things Japanese, having studied Japanese at university, and lived in Japan for six years.

    Catherine loves swimming and reading, but she does not like eating mushrooms.

    Mrs Myers has worked at KSM for just over 2 years in our Kingfisher Class (Years 4 and 5). She loves all things science and enjoys leading any kind of scientific activity, including running science and STEM clubs for all year groups. Above all, Mrs Myers' naturally empathetic nature ensures that all the children feel safe, valued and inspired to do their best. Mrs Myers is a Staff Governor, and holds a position on the school board, helping to shape and support the strategic development of the school.

    Mrs Myers loves cats, Lindt chocolate and a good book, but she doesn’t like spiders!

    Mrs O’Brien is an experienced educational leader with over 20 years in teaching and senior leadership across both maintained and independent schools. Her career has spanned roles including Headteacher, Education Director, Compliance Director, Ofsted Inspector, Head of Lower School, DSL, and Head of EYFS, providing a deep understanding of school improvement, regulatory compliance, and high-quality teaching across all phases.

    Mrs O’Brien loves Kit Kats and owls, but she doesn’t like traffic jams.

Our governing body is made up of:

  • 1 Staff Governor

  • 1 Foundation Governor

  • 1 Local Authority Governor

  • 2 Parent Governors

  • 1 Co-opted Governor

 

The full governing body meets at least once per term (six times per year).

The role of the governing body is primarily strategic. Its key responsibilities include:

  • Setting the school’s aims and objectives

  • Developing policies to achieve those aims

  • Setting targets to measure success

  • Monitoring and evaluating the school’s progress

  • Acting as a critical friend to the Headteacher, providing both challenge and support

 

The Governors work alongside the Headteacher and staff to ensure that Kington St Michael CE Primary School continues to provide the best possible education for every child.
