Ofsted Inspection Results - February 2025

We are delighted to share the outcomes of our recent Ofsted inspection with you. This was an exceptionally rigorous three-day process, led by highly experienced inspectors who have visited many schools across Wiltshire and the wider country. We are incredibly proud that they have recognised the strengths of our school, including our academic results, pastoral care, teaching team, and most importantly, our wonderful children!

Since the school’s previous inspection in 2014, the Ofsted framework has changed four times, raising expectations significantly. Despite this, our school has not only met but exceeded these standards in key areas, and we are thrilled to have achieved an Outstanding grade for personal development, a remarkable achievement that reflects our commitment to nurturing confident, well-rounded pupils who are exceptionally well prepared for life beyond school.

Before sharing the full results, we want to highlight some of the inspectors’ comments with you:

“This is a nurturing and happy school, where pupils enjoy learning. Pupils describe it as a welcoming place where everyone is nice to one another. They understand how the school’s values help them to have the courage to try new things. The school has high aspirations for what pupils can achieve. Pupils meet these expectations. They work hard and achieve well across the curriculum.”

“Pupils are polite and courteous. They confidently hold conversations with adults. Staff know the pupils for the individuals they are. Relationships are positive across the school. Pupils trust adults to listen and help them with any worries they may have. They feel safe and cared for because of this.”

“The personal development offer for pupils is impressive. Pupils learn about fundamental British values exceptionally well, talking with maturity about the importance of individual liberty and mutual respect. They understand why discrimination is wrong… Pupils are very well prepared for life beyond school.”

We are incredibly proud that Ofsted has recognised our strong, value driven ethos and the exceptional opportunities we provide for our pupils. The inspection grades are as follows:

  • Quality of education: Good
  • Behaviour and attitudes: Good
  • Personal development: Outstanding
  • Leadership and management: Good
  • Early Years provision: Good

Achieving an Outstanding in any category is a significant achievement under the new framework, and we are especially proud that the inspectors highlighted our pupils’ personal development as a strength of the school.

The inspectors were especially impressed with our new leadership team, our dedicated staff, and our recently developed curriculum, noting that while much is new, it feels well-established and cohesive.

When considered alongside our excellent SIAMS Church Inspection result last year, this inspection reaffirms what we already knew; KSM is a thriving school with so much to celebrate!
